Ripping
From WikiDocs
This is the process where an asset's imported data can be altered, mangled or built into a different format. Consoles required highly optimized data in order to take full advantage of their hardware. Because of this reason, they often use proprietary data formats that can only be generated with custom SDK tools. It is for this purpose, MOG supports the ability to rip assets.
MOG's ripping allows a single asset to be processed atomically. This data-centric solution is fundamentally different than the existing build-centric solutions because it allows a single asset to be processed outside of a global data build.
As asset pools continue to grow, atomic asset processing is the only way to truly achieve the fastest iterations possible. It simply takes too long to use the traditional build-centric solutions.
